"See what's next in video games" - Summer Game Fest

The Summer Game Fest is back once again!
This post has been fully updated!

Disclaimer: In this post, I will only talk about games I personally find interesting. There are a lot more games that are just as good as the ones mentioned, they may just not be my style or interests.

I wanted to take the opportunity of the upcoming Summer Game Fest to yap about all the games that may or may not be revealed during the event. At least the ones I am interested in. You can see this post as a sort of running list of highlights I found interesting during the event.

This post will have less information about a single game than normally, but rather small notes on a lot of games. I will update this page once a day, probably sometime in the evening.

Here is the schedule for the upcoming showcases:

Games:

The Mix:

The Mix

Wonderfall

Wonderfall seems to be a beautiful stylized adventure game, where you need to unravel, why the City of Paris is falling apart. There's a Demo out now. Go check it out!

Ornélia

A cozy, very detailed village builder with a gorgeous art style. Coming soon to Early Access on Steam. Go drop them a wishlist!

Reka

Reka is finally getting it's 1.0 Release! You play as a young witch, build your own witch hut and explore the legend of the Baba Yaga. It has a stylized art style and is genuinely fun to play. Though i only have a few hours in the game, i really like it and am looking forward to the full release. It's only 12 bucks on Steam right now, so if it sounds like something you'd like, go check it out!

ILL

ILL is a brutal, visceral, and gory survival horror game. It looks very promising, but other than that, we don't know all that much about it yet. It's coming to console and PC sometime in 2027.

Bancho the Chef

WE ARE GETTING A DAVE THE DIVER PREQUEL! In Bancho the Chef, you play (as one could imagine) Bancho, the chef of the restaurant in Dave the Diver. It's coming to Steam, but we don't yet know when.

Until Dawn 2

Until Dawn 2 is finally happening! And my god does it look brutally good! I normally don't have problems with playing horror games, but the first Until Dawn was the only horror game ever where I thought: "I don't want to play this." I hate those Wendigos! Suffice to say, I am very excited for this game, but also a little bit scared. It is coming sometime in 2027.

No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked is finally getting its 1.0 release! It's a difficult Soulslike from the creators of the Ori series. It has one of the most unique and beautiful art styles I've ever seen. The hand-painted, colorful world is interesting, and I'm very much looking forward to the full release. I have about 11 hours in the Early Access version, and I really enjoyed every second of it. Right now it's 30% off on Steam, so go check it out!

God of War Laufey

WE ARE GETTING TO PLAY FAYE IN THE NEW GOD OF WAR GAME! I am genuinely ridiculously excited for this game. I have been a lover of the God of War series since day one. I have not played every single one, but I've seen at least one Let's Play of every single entry. As I'm not a console player, I started playing with God of War (2018) and am still waiting for the remake of the original trilogy. (Please, Santa Monica, make it happen!) I loved God of War: Ragnarök so much I grabbed the Platinum trophy. (Meaning 100% completion of the whole game, for the uninitiated). I am really looking forward to this one and hope Sony will give us a PC version. Otherwise, it seems I will have to get myself a PS5... Even though we only saw Faye in the trailer, I really hope we get to play at least a little bit of Kratos, as he is just the cornerstone of the series. Either way, I am very, very excited for this game!

Silent Hill: Townfall

I'm not all that deep into the Silent Hill franchise, but the trailer was very intriguing. It seemed like a mystery horror game with an absolutely gorgeous sound design. So visceral and atmospheric! It's coming to console and PC on September 24, 2026.

Guild Wars 3

No way we are getting another Guild Wars game! I am quite excited for this one, although my girlfriend could probably tell you a lot more about it than I can, as she is the MMO enthusiast.

1666 Amsterdam

What an atmosphere! 1666 Amsterdam is a dark third-person action-adventure. You play as a witch who is trying to find demons in human form. Detective by day, hunter by night. The prologue is free to play on Steam right now, so go check it out.

The Wolf Among Us 2

After almost 10 years, Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is finally coming back. I really liked the first one, and if you ever played one of the Telltale Walking Dead games, this might very well be for you.

Mortal Shell 2

Mortal Shell is getting a sequel! And it looks dark, brutal, and good. There's an open beta happening right now, so go check it out!

HAEX

A very good-looking open-world action-adventure survival game. You are in the subarctic North, trying to find out more about an anomaly while also trying not to get killed by the aliens roaming the wilderness. I don't know all that much about the game yet, other than the graphics being very impressive.

Crossfire

Kinda looks like one of the Dark Pictures Anthology games. And I mean that in a good way. It's very cinematic and tells the story of two opposing agents who have to form an alliance. Very interesting trailer! Go watch it!

Lords of the Fallen II

Such an amazing-looking sequel. It looks dark, gritty, brutal, and very intriguing. I can't wait to play this one, as I played the original, skipped the reboot because I didn't have the time, and now I'm back. Looking very much forward to this one!

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival

Hellraiser is back. And this time in a first-person action-horror survival game (that's actually how Steam describes it, lol). It looks bloody, gory, dark, and very intriguing. Other than that, we don't have much info yet.

Apple Crumble

In this mystery adventure, you are trying to find out who is going to kill your grandma. Yes, you heard me right. The game is inspired by the Knives Out movies. If you know them, that is all I need to say. If you don't: go watch them!

Cozy Game Restoration

A cozy game where you clean up and restore old game cartridges. Looks super satisfying and also has a demo right now on Steam. So go check it out!

Magicians: The Devil's Deal

We don't know much about it yet, but this game looked very, very promising. It is a first-person action shooter where you play as a magician who wants to escape hell. The art style looks very nice, and the whole thing seems to be set in a steampunk-like world.

Senua

It's time for a third entry into the Hellblade series. The first one was very good, the second looked very good but was strangely empty, and the third at least looks promising. As we only have one trailer so far, it's hard to say. We will see what happens.

METRO 2039

METRO 2039 is the next installment in the Metro series. If you don't know it, it's an atmospheric first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow. The Metro series is based on the books by Dmitry Glukhovsky. It is known for dark but very good storylines and highly immersive gameplay.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Resonance is the third installment in the Plague Tale series and a prequel to the other two games. It is not as story-driven as the other two. It looks a lot more open and more action-heavy. I really enjoyed the first two games, but I genuinely don't mind the changeup. It looks really good, and I'm interested to see where it's heading.

EverRail

EverRail is an open-world survival crafting game where you and up to three friends are piloting a train through a frozen, procedural world. This looks ridiculously good for an indie game. As I'm a big fan of the TV series Snowpiercer, this is right up my alley. Very interested to see more of it.

Tiny Train Adventures

I am a sucker for trains. I don't know why, but I just am. So this tiny, cozy game where you build a railway through a mountain landscape is exactly my type of game. It looks satisfying, and that's all I need.

Little Sheep Valley

Another small cozy game similar to Tiny Glade, if any of you know it. You just build a small sheep farm without any pressure or the need for resources.

Aquapark Tycoon

The name says it all. Another tycoon game where you build a water park. It looks nice, with lots of different slides and pools, and also has a demo right now on Steam. So go check it out!

To Kill a God

This game has the biggest skill tree I have ever seen... It is an action roguelike where you try to... well, kill a God. It also has a demo right now on Steam. So go check it out!
